Description Terrestrial telescope, now missing all the lenses, formed from seven sections. The tubes are of cardboard; the largest one, which contained the eyepiece, is covered in green leather with gold tooling and the coat-of-arms of the Medici family. The other tubes, covered in white parchment (now turned yellow), contain a diaphragm in the front part. In the first two sections is a small tube which accommodated the lenses of the composite eyepiece. The objective was lodged in the smaller section. The instrument is probably of English construction. |
